Browned Butter Rice Krispy Treats

Notes
- This recipe uses 1.5x the amount of butter and marshmallows for a more-gooey bar.
Ingredients
- 6 tbsp butter, room temperature
- 15 oz. (420 g) plain marshmallows
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 6 oz. (170 g) rice krispies/puffed rice cereal
- 8 oz. (225 g) mini-marshmallows
Steps
- Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a small saucepan, brown the butter over medium-high heat, cooking it just until it begins to turn an amber color. Remove from heat and transfer to a large, microwave-safe bowl.
- Add the marshmallows to the browned butter and microwave on high for 60-90 seconds, until marshmallows have melted. Add the salt and stir the marshmallow mixture until smooth, then add in the cereal. Stir with a large spatula until everything is evenly combined. Fold in the mini-marshmallows.
- Transfer mixture to prepared pan and press down into an even layer with a spatula. Allow bars to cool to room temperature before slicing.
