Salted Chocolate Brown Butter Crispy Treats

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 10 ounces marshmallows
- 6 cups crisp rice cereal
- 12 ounces (2 cups) semisweet chocolate, roughly chopped (or chocolate chips)
- coarse salt
Steps
- Lightly grease a 9″x 13″x 2″ baking pan.
- Place the butter in a large saucepan. Cook over medium heat until the butter melts and begins to foam.
- Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until brown specks begin to form at the bottom of the pan and the butter has a nutty aroma.
- Reduce heat to low. Add the marshmallows, and cook, stirring constantly, until the marshmallows have melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Remove the pan from the heat. Add the cereal, and stir until combined.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan, and spread evenly.
- Place the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in the microwave at half power in 30-second increments until the chocolate melts when stirred. Stir until smooth.
- Spread the melted chocolate over the bars. Sprinkle with the desired amount of coarse salt.
- Allow the chocolate to cool and set before cutting into bars.
