Gary’s Anise Christmas Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 oz baker’s ammonia
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 cups flour
- 1 oz anise seeds, pounded
Steps
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- Dissolve ammonia in a cup with a small amount of hot water and cover.
- Cream together sugar and butter.
- Add eggs and mix well.
- Combine salt, flour, and anise seeds. Mix into wet ingredients.
- Add ammonia and mix.
- Sprinkle flour on a rolling surface and roll out dough to 6-8 mm thickness.
- Cut into shapes and bake for 6-8 minutes.
