Use “Chocolate Cupcakes” recipe.

Chocolate-Espresso Buttercream

Use “Chocolate Buttercream Icing” recipe.

Kirsch Whipped Cream

Use “Stabilized Whipped Cream” recipe, with 2 tbsp kirsch.

Assembly

  1. Core the center of each cupcake using a knife with a serrated edge.
  2. Fill the hole generously with the cherry filling.
  3. Fill the small star tip piping bag with the chocolate-espresso buttercream. Pipe a single (flat) layer covering the top of the cupcake (and the filling).
  4. Fill the large closed-star tip piping bag with the whipped cream. Pipe a single swirl onto the cupcake.
  5. Sprinkle chocolate shavings onto the edges of the swirl.
  6. Pipe one large, round dollop of whipped cream on top of that first swirl.
  7. Garnish with a cherry.
  8. Keep in refrigerator until ready to serve. Cupcakes should stay fresh for 2 days.
